Two parking areas with a good overall view of the airfield, particularly when things take off and land. As others have said, if you are there at the right times, you will see Hawks and Merlins flying. Pity that the old cafe has gone from where you used to be able to book a very informative tour of the base which, fortunately, I was able to do a few years ago.
When you see the jets flying around it is a great place to go to watch them take off and land as they come in low over the ample parking. When the jets aren't flying around the sky i find it to be a peaceful place for quiet contemplation and meditation.
Fantastic place to sit and watch aircrafts
This is a nice place to go if you want somewhere slightly different.Great view of the planes taking off and watching general everyday business on the Base. Well worth stopping off at. Take a flask and a packed lunch.Also has some good information boards telling you about the various aircraft that use the Base.
Nice small viewing area. Pity they got rid of the nice little cafe and shop
